Lawson Disc Golf Course
The Flying Cardinal is an 18-hole disc golf course located around a 25 acre lake and open to the public, as long as no tournaments are scheduled. The front nine is long and exposed while the back nine is more technical. You'll enjoy picturesque views from every hole as you circle the lake and walk through wooded areas.
Lawson City Park
The Lawson City Park is located in the center of town at Pennsylvania and Third Street. The park features a playground, World War 1 Memorial Band Stand, a splash pad, shelter house, basketball court, picnic tables, and fire pit. Enjoy a stroll or picnic while you soak in small town living.
Lawson Lake
The 25-acre Lawson Lake is the perfect destination for a picnicking, nature viewing, bird watching, hiking, fishing, boating, or kayaking. For the fishing enthusiast, the lake is stocked with bass, crappie, catfish, and carp. A 1.7 mile trail goes around the lake and has many benches where you can stop to take in the view or you can get your blood flowing at one of the exercise stations. The complex also inlcudes an event center, disc golf, and a pavilion.
Watkins Mill State Park
A 100-acre lake with a paved bicycle path around it, plentiful fishing, a picturesque campground and choice picnic spots make Watkins Mill State Park an ideal place for an afternoon or longer. Located near the Kansas City area, the park has ample fishing opportunities and an abundance of whitetailed deer and wild turkeys to watch. The park is adjacent to the Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark.

Jesse James Farm Museum
The birthplace of Jesse James is in Kearney, Missouri, a short trip from Lawson and on your way into downtown Kansas City.The James log cabin farmhouse, built-in 1822, has witnessed many generations of James family history. A tour through the restored home will take visitors back to where the legend of Jesse James began.

Watkins Woolen Mill
Featuring the nation’s last fully equipped 19th century woolen mill, you can tour the 1860 woolen mill and gristmill, the 1850 house, Visitor Center and Museum. The state park features camping, fishing, swimming and picnicking areas. The Living History Farm Program, offered on weekends in the spring and fall, brings the 1870s back to life with costumed interpreters demonstrating agricultural and industrial activities.
Willow Spring Mercantile
This unique shop boasts the state's largest selection of Missouri wines, craft beers and distilled spirits, plus a small bistro that serves a great lunch. Imagine a liquor store made boutique style that also specializes in local Missouri made. Enjoy lunch with fresh and local ingredients, catering to special dietary needs and gluten-free requests.
Ray Rocks Offroad Resort
Ray Rocks Offroad Resort is a large off roading park located in an old rock quarry between Excelsior Springs and Richmond off of Highway 10. Bring out your side by side, jeep, or other trail worthy vehicle for a day filled with climbing, exploring, and testing your limits! Check their Facebook page for hours.
